Jacob of CSU San Marcos earns fifth victory

Jaime Jacob of Cal State San Marcos captured her second straight event and fifth of her college career by two strokes and helped the Cougars finish second behind Indianapolis in the Augustana College Spring Fling at The Classic Club in Palm Desert.

Jacob, a sophomore from Encinitas who won the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout her last time out and has three victories this season, posted a score of 73-75—148, 3-over-par, with Paxton DeHaven of Indianapolis, second at 76-74—150.

Savannah Magallon of Cal State San Marcos shot 76-75—151 to tie for third with Pilar Echeverria of Indianapolis, who finished at 77-74—151, and Katharina Keilich, also of Indianapolis, who wound up at 77-74—151.

Sarah Garcia of Cal State San Marcos totaled 77-77—154 to tie for sixth with Sammy Haung of St. Edward’s and Sarah Gee of Tarleton State, both also at 77-77—154.

Annika Haynes of Indianapolis was ninth at 81-74—155 and Ana Sofia Benavides of St. Edward’s rounded out the top 10 at 79-77—156.

Jules Loibl led Biola in a tie for 12th at 78-80—158, Brittany O’Bryant of Chico State tied for 22nd at 81-80—161, Summer Marshall of Point Loma tied for 37th at 89-81—170 and Leanna Mena of Cal State Los Angeles tied for 61st at 96-89—185.

Indianapolis its sixth consecutive tournament with a score of 311-295—606, followed by Cal State San Marcos at 306-307—613, St. Edward’s at 309- 319—628, Tarleton State at 316-317—633, Augustana at 333-316—649 and Biola at 325-328—653.

Lindenwood was seventh at 331-326—657, followed by Chico State at 327-344—671, Point Loma at 350-336—686, St. Martin’s at 338-358—696, Colorado Christian at 370-355—725 and Cal State Los Angeles at 431-401—832.
