Weixel, Doebler tie for 75th Cal Seniors title

Ken Weixel of Rancho Santa Fe and Rick Doebler of Fullerton shared the title in the 75th California Seniors Golf Association Championship at La Jolla Country Club and Rancho Santa Fe Country Club.

The 67-year-old Doebler (pictured right), of Hacienda Country Club in La Habra Heights shot 74-78—152, 8-over-par, while Weixel (left), 59, finished at 81-71—152 after flying into San Diego the night before the tournament from a wedding in Ireland.

Mark Gardner of Redlands was third at 79-77—156, followed by Jim Ream Jr. of Cerritos at 81-76—157, while Derek Patao of La Canada totaled 80-79—159 to tie for fifth with Tony Lehman of Palm Springs at 81-78—159.

Pete Wlodkowski of Carlsbad finished at 79-81—160 to tie for seventh with Robert Veeh of La Canada, who wound up at 84-76—160, while Allen Herd of Twain Harte shot 78-83—161 to tie for ninth with Bill Cohn of San Diego, who came in at 81-80—161.

John Minteer of Coronado won the Rancho Santa Fe Flight with a score of 74-83—157, followed by Robert Jordan of La Habra at 78-84—162 and Michael Brooks of Ventura at 4-82—166.

Andy Crawford of Hacienda Heights took the Presidents Flight at 81-81—162, while Kerry Gordon of Fair Oaks totaled 81-86—167 to tie for second with William Demint of Riverside, who finished at 83-84—167.

Marc Wolfsohn of Camarillo captured the Presidents Flight at 84-82—166, while Bob Kelly of San Diego shot 88-83—171 to tie for second with Larry Sears of Penn Valley, who came in at 88-83—171.

Bo Rothchild of Dublin claimed the Pacific Flight with a score of 83-84—167, followed by Michael Gay of San Diego at 85-83—168 and Ted Boecker of Riverside at 84-87—171.

Fred Narzisi of Atascadero won the Cypress Flight at 87-82—169, followed by Rick Kay of La Jolla at 84-87—171, while Kent Keller of Los Angeles totaled 87-85—172 to tie for third with Warren Ashmann of Brentwood, who wound up at 81-91—172.

Bruce Patterson of Santa Barbara captured the Pacific Flight with a score of 87-96—183, followed by James Wells Jr. of Sacramento at 94-90—184 and Jay Clifton of Livermore at 92-93—185.
