Theegala, 2 Other Waves on All-West Team

Sahith Theegala, who was No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Men’s College Golf Rankings when he season was halted by the Coronavirus pandemic, and his teammates William Mouw and Joe Highsmith at top-ranked Pepperdine were named to the 2019-2020 Division I PING All-West Region team.

The All-West team was one of six all-region teams announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Theegala, a senior from Chino Hills who is a finalist for the Haskins Award asMen’s College Player of the Year, won the Alister Mackenzie Invitational and the Southwestern Invitational this season to give him four victories in his college career.

Those were two of Theegals’s six top-10 results for the Waves during the 2019-20 season.

Arizona State placed four players on the team including Chun An Yu, who is No. 1 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Amateur Ranking, Mason Andersen, Ryggs Johnston, David Puig and Cameron Sisk.

Colorado State is represented by Davis Bryant, AJ Ott and Parathakorn Suyasri, while San Diego State put Puwit Anupansuebsai and Leo Oyo on the team, BYU placed Peter Kuest and Rhett Rasmussen, Briggs Duce and Trevor Werbylo made it from Arizona, while Washington landed Henry Lee and Noah Woolsey on the team.

Rounding out the All-West team are Devon Bling of UCLA, Derek Castillo of Cal State Fullerton, Yuxin Lin of USC, Ethan Ng, Stanford, Tim Widing of San Francisco, Sean Yu of San Jose State, Jack Trent of UNLV and Sam Choi of New Mexico.
