Andrew Spilman of Simi Valley captured his hometown event, winning the 37th annual Simi Valley City Championship by four strokes over Michael Wong of Hong Kong and Brandon Tsujimoto of Pomona at Simi Hills Golf Course.
Spilman carded a winning score of 69-65—135, 7-under-par, while Wong finished at 74-65—139 and Tsujimoto wound up at 69-70—139.
All of the top three players are on the golf team at UC Riverside.
Brandon Resnick of Oak Park and Ventura College shot 73-69—142 to tie for fourth with Ryan Kyaw of Chatsworth and Cal Lutheran, who totaled 72-70—142, and Alec Aronson of Simi Valley and Hofstra, who came in at 73-69—142.
Matthew Taggart of Simi Valley finished at 70-73—143 to tie for sixth with Ashton Roberts of Los Angeles, who wound up at 71-72—143, while Clemente Yames of Argentina posted a score of 72-72—144 to tie for eighth with Joey Herrera of Fillmore, who also finished at 72-72—144, and Divya Manthena of Moorpark, who wound up at 71-73—144.
Jeff Freedman of Simi Valley captured the Senior Flight with a score of 72-69—141, followed by Mike Hoyle of Chatsworth at 76-71—147, Don Baker of Woodland Hills at 78-70—148, Dave Goode of Moorpark at 79-71—150, and Terry Robuck of Simi Hills at 80-71—151.
