Go to most any golf store or pro shop and the number of zero torque putters is almost overwhelming, and now TaylorMade has announced their entry into this growing market with the Spider ZT. For those who like the Spider line this one is a must see and according to the company has one win so far on the PGA Tour, Brian Harman at the Valero Texas Open.
The idea of zero torque putters is to keep the face square to the arc of the stroke thus removing the need to square it by manipulation with the hands or from toe hang weighting as with most putters. TaylorMade with their Spider family from the start has emphasized high MOI or resistance to twisting and the ZT takes that idea even farther.
Andrew Oldknow, Director of Product Category, Product Creation at TaylorMade said in the press announcement, “Spider putters – renowned for their stability, alignment, and roll – have been reengineered in the Spider ZT to feature a toe-up, or ‘face-forward’ balance configuration. This design minimizes torque and reduces the need for hand manipulation, promoting a more consistent stroke. As a result, the putter face remains squarer to the target line throughout the putting motion, enhancing directional control and building confidence at address and through impact.”
