Sorensens repeat as SCGA Pro-Assistant champs

Defending champions Chad and Alan Sorensen of Buena Vista Golf Course in Taft repeated as champions in the Southern California PGA Professional-Assistant Championship at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage.

The Sorensens posted a score of 58-63–121, 23-under-par, to win by five strokes over Michael Block and Bobby Nickell of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, who finished at 61-65–125.

The Sorensen brothers collected 22 birdies and an eagle in 36 holes.

Michael Block and Chris Lungo of Arroyo Trabuco totaled 65-63–138 to tie for third with Scott Heyn and Logan Scott of Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, who wound up at 62-66-168.

Heyn also teamed with Ryan Kennedy and Kevin Wong of Oakmont for identical scores of 62-67–129 to tie for fifth, while Block and Brian Schippell of South County Golf Academy in Mission Viejo were seventh at 64-66–129.

Heyn and John Milligan of Oakmont shot 63-68–131 to tie for eighth with Joe Grohman and Anthony Kim of Navy Golf Club in Cypress, who came in a 64-67–131, while Grohman and John Lee of Navy GC were 10th at 67-65–132.
