Sac State’s Madan Wins by 4 at Sahalee

Nishtha Madan of Sacramento State claimed the individual title by four strokes and BYU edged UC Davis by one stroke to take home the team championship in the rain-shortened UW Edean Ihlanfeldt Invite at Sahalee Country Club http://www.sahalee.com in Sammamish, Wash.

Madan, a senior from India, posted a score of 74-70—144, even par, to earn her first college victory, while Kate Smith of Nebraska shot 77-71—148 to tie for second with Allysha Mae Mateo of BYU, who finished at 75-73—148.

Samantha Gong of San Francisco totaled 78-71—149 to tie for fourth with Anna-Maria Diederichs of Rutgers, who wound up at 75-74—149, and Jackie Lucena of UC Davis, who came in at 74-75—149.

Elizabeth Scholtes of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo carded a score of 77-73—150 to tie for seventh with Naomi Soifua of BYU, who finished at 77-73—150, while Corinne Viden of Sacramento State shot 76-75—151 to tie for ninth with Annick Haczkiewicz of BYU, who finished at 78-73—151, and Maeve Rossi of Rutgers, who came in at 75-76—151.

Holland Shourds led Long Beach State in a tie for 20th at 79-76—155.

BYU captured the team title with a score of 306-301—607, 31-over, followed by UC Davis at 297-311—608, Rutgers at 305-304—609, Sacramento State at 305-306—611 and Washington at 304-318—622.

San Francisco was sixth at 312-311—623, followed by Nebraska at 317-310—627, Cal Poly SLO at 317-311—628, while Long Beach State totaled 310-321—631 to tie for ninth with Seattle, which wound up at 312-319—631.
