Ringkamp, Chuang Claim Titles in Toyota Tour Cup Championship

Luke Ringkamp of Palm Desert and Kandice Chuang of Los Angeles finished off the year by capturing their divisions in the Southern California PGA Junior Tour’s final event of 2023, the Toyota Tour Cup Championship, on the North Course at the Golf Club at Terra Lago in Indio.

Ringkamp, who also won the FGC Collegiate Series Opener, the National Tour Temecula Championship and the National Tour Palm Springs Open this year, posted a score of 69-69—138, six-under-par, to win the Boys’ Division, while Matthew Diehl of Redlands was second at 72-68—140.

Even though he won those tournaments earlier this season, this was Ringkamp’s first victory in a SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup event.

Defending champion Luke Bailey of Encinitas posted a score of 72-70—140 to tie for third with Yunze Wang of Rancho Santa Fe, who also shot 72-70—140, and Max Emberson of Thousand Oaks, who finished at 71-71—142.

Matthew Hull of Corona del Mar totaled 71-72—143 to tie for sixth with Bryson Barnes of Long Beach, who wound up at 69-74—143, and Keita Yobiko of West Covina, who also shot 71-72—143.

Charlie Olson of Newport Beach was ninth at 74-70—144, while Cooper Greenwood of Westlake Village carded a score of 74-71—145 to tie for 10th with Jaden Song of Burbank, who finished at 73-72—145, and Caleb Kim of Fullerton, who came in a 72-73.

Chuang, who has claimed 18 SCPGA Junior Tour titles in recent years, earned the Girls’ Division championship by finishing with a score of 73-69—142, two-under-par, while Mia Clausen of Carlsbad shot 71-72—143 to tie for second with Mingyang “Sabrina” Sun of Carlsbad, who also finished at 71-72—143.

Alice Ziyi Zhao of Irvine posted a score of 74-71—145 to tie for fourth with Emily Song, also of Irvine, who wound up at 72-73—145, while Rina Kawasaki of Rancho Palos Verdes totaled 74-72—146 to tie for sixth with Kacey Ly of Temple City, who finished at 72-74—146.

Kuree Little of Palmdale shot 78-69—147 to wind up in a big tie for eighth with Zoe Sprecher of Sierra Madre (75-72—147), Vera Dongah Lee of Irvine (74-73—147), Isabella Fernandez of Irvine (75-72—147); Blayne Brown of Riverside (74-73—147), and Donina Zhou of Trabuco Canyon (72-75—147).
