Pang Captures Winter Invite by 5 Shots

Darren Pang of San Ramon ran away with the AmateurGolf.com Winter Invitational presented by Callaway, winning by five strokes in wind and rain in the final round the South Course at Corica Park Golf Club https://coricapark.com in Alameda.

Pang, a 16-year-old junior at Dougherty Valley High, was the only player to break par in both rounds and finished at 67-70—137, 7-under-par, recording eagles at the 15th hole both days to record his first victory in the senior amateur ranks.

Alex Chin of Pleasanton, a junior at University of San Francisco, carded a score of 73-69—142 to tie for second with Connor Motherway of Reno, who wound up at 69-73—142, while first-round leader Justin Gums of Lodi totaled 66-77—143 to tie for fourth with Ash Hakim of San Ramon and St. Mary’s, who shot 72-71—143, and Joshua McCarthy of Danville and Pepperdine, who wound up at 70-73—143.

Brandon Choe of Orinda posted a score of 72-73—145 to tie for seventh with Cameron Keith of Alamo, who finished at 71-74—145, Daniel Connolly of San Francisco, who wound up at 70-75—145, and Nate Jetter of Pleasanton, who came in at 69-76—145.

John Jennison of San Francisco finished in a tie for 15th at 70-77—147, but won the Mid-Amateur subdivision by seven shots.

Pete Wlodkowski of San Diego, AmateurGolf.com founder, shot 72-76—148 to win the Senior Division by three strokes over Tony Ralph of Sunnyvale, who finished at 73-78—151, while Gomer Piearcy of Aptos totaled 75-77—152 to tie for third with Glenn Andrade of Napa, who also wound up at 75-77—152. Brian Lynn of San Diego was fifth at 74-79—153.
