Nikki Oh of Torrance claimed perhaps the biggest victory of her young career by three strokes in the 52nd Joanne Winter Silver Belle Championship at Briarwood Country Club in Sun City West, Ariz.
The 16-year-old Oh, who earlier this year won the Ping An Bank Junior Open on the Champions Course at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, and the Toyota Tour Cup at the Golf Club at Rancho California Golf Club in Murrietta, posted a winning score this time of 73-68-65—206, 10-under-par, with a bogey-free final round.
Amy Lee of Canada was second at 69-69-70—208, followed by Lydia Portlock of San Antonio, Texas, at 68-73-68—209, and Alona Avery of Riverside at 76-69-65—210, while Lilly Peng of San Ramon totaled 71-70-71—212 to tie for fifth with Kacey Ly of Temple City, who finished at 70-70-72—212.
Kinsley Zixin Ni of China and Los Angeles was seventh at 73-69-71—213, followed by Joyce Yang of Milpitas at 74-71-69—214, and Isabella Piazza of Phoenix, Ariz., at 75-72-68—215, while Michelle Ho of San Ramon shot 72-71-73—216 to tie for 10th with defending champion Alice Ziyi Zhao of Irvine, who came in at 76-70-70—216.
In the 19-23 Division, Gabby Kano of Fullerton claimed the title with a score of 71-75-72—218, followed by Leighton Shosted of Mesa, Ariz., at 68-77-74—219, Eunice Han of Las Vegas at 72-75-77—224, and Aubri Braecklein of Northglenn, Colo., at 79-76-71—226.
Cynthia Zhang of Milpitas totaled 82-74-73—229 to tie for fifth with Carly Carter of Eagle, Ind., who wound up at 77-78-74—229, while Anna Takahashi of Grapevine, Texas, was seventh at 78-74-78—230, followed by Samantha Olson of Phoenix at 77-78-77—232, and Mallorie Luitwieler of Katy, Texas, at 79-79-80—238.
