Connor O’Brien of Irvine captured the 47th Will Jordan Costa Mesa City Championship by two strokes over Ryan Knapp of Costa Mesa, Tyler Annear of Huntington Beach and Scott Blair of Irvine on the Los Lagos and Mesa Linda courses at Costa Mesa Country Club (pictured) www.costamesacountryclub.com.
The 17-year-old O’Brien, who won four times on the SCPGA Junior Tour in the previous two seasons in addition to recording seven runner-up finishes in the last three years, posted a score of 66-69—135, 7-under-par.
Knapp shot 65-72—137 to tie for second with Annear, who finished at 67-70—137 and Scott, who wound up at 66-71—137.
Defending champion Ramiz Jamal of Huntington Beach totaled 69-70—139 to finish in a big tie for fifth with Ryan Indovina of Costa Mesa (65-74—139), first-round leader Jim Jones of Huntington Beach (64-75—139), Josh McCollum of Upland (69-70–139), Myoung Kim of Costa Mesa (68-71—139), and Nicholas Pham of Huntington Beach 71-68—139.
Doug Martinez of San Clemente took the Senior Flight title with a score of 76-65—141, followed by Kory Frost of Trabuco Canyon at 75-67—142 and Lewis Beshoff of Long Beach at 77-67—144.
