Mark Morgan of Shingle Springs completed a season sweep of the Sacramento County Golf Council’s senior championships when he captured the 23rd annual State Fair Senior Championship by two strokes over John Rotteveel of Dixon and Bobby Schaffer of La Quinta at Mather Golf Course www.playmather.com in Mather.
In the State Fair Super Senior Division, Jeff Burda of Modesto (pictured right) made a birdie on the third playoff hole to turn back Chuck Richesin of Lodi.
The 59-year-old Morgan (pictured left), who earlier this year won the Sacramento County Senior Championship and the Sacramento City Senior Championship after winning the 2017 California Senior Amateur Championship, posted a score of 70-66—136, 8-under-par, while Rotyteveel and Schaffer both finished at 70-68—138.
Dave Baskins of Sacramento shot 73-69—142 to tie for fourth with Brady Donoghue of Folson, who finished at 72-70—142, while Tony Padilla of Sacramento was sixth at 75-68—143, and Todd Barsotti of Fresno totaled 74-70—144 to tie for seventh with
Dennis Webb of West Sacramento, who wound up at 73-71—144.
Chris Bailey of El Dorado was ninth at 72-23—145, while James Camaione of Upland shot 72-74—146 to tie for 10th with John Jaramillo of Granite Bay, who finished at 73-73—146, and Daniel Orovich of Woodland, who also came in at 73-73—146.
Burda, a three-time winner of the State Fair Senior Championship, posted a score of 73-69—142, while Richesin, who won the Sacramento County Senior, the Sacramento City Super Seniors and the Sacramento Vintage Super Senior titles earlier this year, wound up at 75-67—142.
Mark Miller of Brentwod shot 75-69—144 to tie for third with Bob Olds of Brentwood, who finished at 74-70—144.
Dennis Donohue of Roseville carded a score of 73-73—146 to tie for fifth with Herb Jensen of Carmichael, who finished 70-76—146, Tom Marks of Roseville, who totaled 71-75—146, and Gary Ramsden of Sacramento, who also wound up at 71-75—146.
Sherman Haggerty of El Dorado Hills was ninth at 74-74—148, while Stephen Grubman of Lincoln shot 73-76—149 to tie for 10th with Ron Johnson of Walnut Creek, who came in at 76-73—149.
