The Metro Chapter captured the 2019 Southern California PGA Chapter Challenge by 12 strokes over the Inland Empire Chapter at Oakmont Country Club http://www.oakmontcc.com in Glendale.
It was the fourth time the Metro Chapter has claimed the title in the event’s 12-year history.
The Metro Chapter finished with a total of 338 strokes, with the Inland Empire Section next at 350, while the San Diego Chapter was third at 358, followed by the Northern Chapter at 366 and the Desert Chapter at 383.
Playing for the Metro Chapter were PGA pros Jim Gormley of Palos Verdes Golf Club, Kyle Mendoza of South Hills Country Club, Erika Ilagan of SeaCliff Country Club, Blair Harkins of Rolling Hills Country Club, Logan Scott of Oakmont, Thomas Gardner of Los Angeles Country Club, Bobby Nickell of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, Vinnie Poncino of San Clemente Golf Course, Thomas Chu of Friendly Hills Country Club, Mike Fergin of Mesa Verde Country Club, Jim Razzeto of Westchester Country Club and Chi Choi of Monarch Beach Golf Links.
Scott, playing on his home course, collected seven birdies in a 5-under-par 66, while Gardner, Nickell and Poncino all matched both of those numbers.
The winning team split $3,000.
