Maverick McNealy of Stanford has landed a spot on the United States team for the Palmer Cup matches against Europe, which will be played on June 12-14 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
McNealy, a sophomore from Portola Valley, has claimed four victories this season among seven top-10 finishes in 10 events, is ranked No. 1 in Golfweek’s college rankings and No. 8 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Stanford has place a player on the Palmer Cup team in seven consecutive seasons.
Also on the American team are Carr Vernon of Cal State Monterey Bay, a junior from Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Beau Hossler of Mission Viejo, who is a sophomore at Texas.
Vernon captured the NDNU Argo Invite this season and Hossler won the Johnny Hayt Collegiate Invitational.
Others on the U.S. team are Ollie Schniederjans of Georgia Tech, Lee McCoy of Georgia, Hunter Stewart of Vanderbilt, Robby Shelton of Alabama, Jack Maguire of Florida State, Kyle Jones of Baylor and Anders Albertson of Georgia Tech.
On the European team are Jon Rahm (Spain) of Arizona State, Rowin Caron (Netherlands) of Florida State, Adrian Meronk (Poland) of East Tennessee State, Clement Sordet (France) of Texas Tech, Thomas Detry (Belgium) of Illinois (Belgium), Max Rottluff (Germany) of Arizona State, Gary Hurley (Ireland) of Maynooth, Matthias Schwab (Austria) of Vanderbilt and Mathias Eggenberger (Liechtenstein) of Stirling.
The United States leads the series, 9-8-1.
