Nicole and Tiffany Le put on a repeat performance.
The Le sisters, from Covina and UC Riverside, captured the Collegiate Flight for the second straight year by three strokes over Ann Buffolino of Burbank and Esther Yoo of Sunland in the sixth annual Southern California Junior Girls Collegiate Partners Championship at Lakewood Golf and Country Club.
Tiffany, a sophomore at UCR who has won several individual tournaments in recent years, and Nicole, a senior, took control of the tournament on the back nine of the first round at La Mirada Golf Course where the first round was played, when they collected six birdies including the last four in a row while recording a 6-under 29.
The Le sisters posted a winning score of 64-71—135, 10-under-par, while Buffolino and Yoo finished second at 70-67—138, followed by Angelica Kusnowo of Chino Hills and Amy Kim of Fullerton at 68-70—138, Sarah Amaya of Northridge and Joshlyn Ayala of Walnut Park at 72-67—139, and Lexi Nielsen of Manhattan Beach and Alegra Gurian of Pacific Palisades at 71-70—141.
Amber Davalos of Santa Ana and Kaitlyn Smith of West Covina shot 71-73—144 to tie for sixth with Isabelle San Antonio of West Covina and Ella Chiu of Hacienda Heights, who finished at 72-72—144, while Gabrielle Kiger of Hermosa Beach and Vanessa Betancourt of Huntington Beach were eighth at 75-71—146, followed by Nicole Southard of Corona and Jennifer Gouisikul of Riverside at 78-79—157, and Emma Ashcraft and Juliette Ruaux, both of Long Beach, at 80-80—160.
Vanessa Ngo of Mission Viejo, who eagled the third hole in round one, and Kylie Phi of Fountain Valley combined for only one bogey in each round while leading most of the way before holding off Sehlai Purcell of West Hills and Ivy Kim of North Hills by one stroke in the Junior Division.
Phi and Ngo posted a score of 66-68—134, 11-under, while Purcell and Kim wound up at 70-65—135 as both players made eagles in round two, and Fay Jia of Murrieta and Kate Hu of San Diego were third at 68-71—139.
Loren Fearence of Long Beach and Maleah Clark of Beaumont carded a score of 68-72—140 to tie for fourth with Marissa Nihei of Covina and Salma Ibrahim of Culver City, who also finished at 68-72—140, Jayden Peters of Agoura Hills and Joanna Hong of Westlake Village, who wound up at 67-73—140, and Nina Xu of West Hills and Audrey Chang of Los Angeles, who came in at 69-71—140.
Summer Schafer of San Diego and Jessica Hudson of San Marcos shot 73-68—141 to tie for eighth with Chloe Yoo of Anaheim and Chloe Kim of Whittier, who finished at 70-71—141, while Charlene Woo of Fullerton and Lauren Shin of Huntington Beach were 10th at 71-72—143.
