Shea Lague of Jamul captured the Boys 15-18 Division in the 13th annual Future Champions Golf National Championship by three strokes over Collin Hodgkinson of Beaverton, Ore., on the Glen Oaks at Singing Hills Resort www.singinghillsgolfresort.com in El Cajon.
Lague, who joined a list of former champions that includes Aaron Wise, Beau Hossler, Chris Williams, and Todd Baek, posted a score of 69-68-71—208, 8-under-par, while Hodgkinson finished at 74-66-71—211.
Howon Kim of South Korea was third at 69-69-74—212, followed by Carson Enright of Longboat Key, Fla., at 74-69-71—214.
Kevin Kang of San Diego carded a score of 68-76-71—215 to tie for fifth with Phillip Kench of Del Mar, who wound up at 74-69-72—215, Jay Martinez of Encino, who totaled 76-66-73—215, Samuel Fitzgerald of Mission Viejo, who shot 70-70-75—215, and Ethan Tseng of Portland, Ore, who wound up at 71-69-75—215.
Jaden Cantafio of Tustin shot 72-73-71—216 to tie for 10th with Xiong Da of Murrieta, who finished at 73-71-72—216, Francis Catalano of Camarillo, who wound up at 72-67-77—216, Helaman Ofahengaue of Lehi, Utah, who totaled 72-72-72—216, and Falk Ivanov of Germany, who came in at 74-70-72—216.
Nolan Kuszyk of La Canada Flintridge won the Boys 13-14 Division with a score of 67-64—131, followed by Clark Van Gaalen of Turlock at 70-63—133, Kai Hirayama of Arcadia at 68-66—134, and Curtis Da Silva of Monterey at 64-71—135.
Henry Yang of Chino was fourth at 72-67—139, followed by Anthony Noh of Yorba Linda at 69-71—140 and Alex Wu of Beaumont 74-70—144.
David Wu of Beaumont shot 75-70—145 to tie for fifth with Matthew Almajano of Fremont, who finished at 72-73—145, Matthew Robles of Downey, who wound up at 70-75—145, and Adam Wrenn of Lake Oswego, Ore., who totaled 78-67—145.
The winner of each division earned a spot in the 2020 IMG Academy Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, and several other courses in Southern California.
