The talk about putters never seems to lessen but for the past few years the concept of “zero torque” has captured the attention of professionals and recreational players.

The idea is simple. Rather than a putter weighted so the face opens and closes to the arc of the putter path which means it has to return to square at impact, zero torque designs rotate but the rotation is always square to the putter’s arc.

LAB has accomplished this as have other zero torque putter makers most often by centering the shaft in the head however, in response to some players wanting a heel shafted model they have designed the OZ.1i HS.

An aluminum riser attaches the shaft to achieve their “Lie Angle Balance” zero torque results. The riser is available in ten different configurations, ranging from 65 to 74 degrees, allowing OZ.1i HS to be customized to each golfer’s preferred lie angle.

“Designing a heel-shafted putter that stays balanced to the lie angle presented us with a unique challenge,” said Brian Parks, vice president of engineering. “The result is our custom, proprietary aluminum riser, a key feature of the OZ.1i HS that lets us offer multiple lie angles without compromising the signature feel and balance golfers expect from every L.A.B. putter.”
