Kuang-Hall win SCGA 4-Ball in playoff

Cody Hall of Wildomar and Edwin Kuang of Murrieta captured the 2017 Southern California Golf Association Four-Ball Championship in a playoff over Timothy Johnson of San Rafael and Christian Rajcic of Ramona at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta.

Kuang, a junior at Murrieta Valley High playing on his home course, sank birdies on the 18th hole and on the first extra hole to wrap up the victory.

Hall and Kuang finished with a score of 67-68—135, 9-under-par, while Johnson and Rajcic wound up at 66-69—135.

Peter Roberts of San Marcos and Joe Ryon of Carlsbad were third at 68-68—136, while Mike Bench and Phil Walker of San Diego shot 70-67—137 to tie for fourth with Nathan Celusta of Newbury Park and Ramie Sprinkling of Camarillo, who totaled 67-70—137.

Bob Erling of Temecula and Todd Stires of Murrieta posted a score of 71-67—138 to tie for sixth with Torey Edwards of Long Beach, who finished at 69-69—138, Kelly Foy of Santa Barbara and Chris Wood of Camarillo, who wound up at 67-71—138, and Brendan Barkate of Moorpark and Daniel Ragsdale of Westlake Village, who also came in at 67-71—138.

Jason Pridemore and Nate Whitson of Ventura totaled 69-70—139 to tie for 10th with David Oas and Danny Ochoa of Carlsbad, who shot 68-71—139, Josh McCollum of Rancho Cucamonga and Byron Smith of Newport Beach, who finished at 68-71—139, and Greg Desario of Orange and Michael Mitani of Irvine, who also wound up at 68-71—139.
