Knodt Claims SCGA Super Senior by 3 Strokes

Howie Knodt of Pauma Valley led most of the way in the 19th annual Southern California Golf Association Super Senior Championship and won by three strokes over Frank Pieper of Carmel at Ojai Valley Inn and Spa Ojai Valley Innin Ojai.

Knodt, who was the 2009 SCGA Senior Player of the Year when he captured the SCGA Senior Amateur Championship, the SCGA Senior Match Play Championship and the San Diego Senior City Championship, carded a score of 68-72—149, even par.

Pieper wound up second for the third consecutive year with a score of 72-71—143, while two-time defending champion Kemp Richardson of Laguna Niguel shot 72-72—144 to tie for third with Rick Doebler of Fullerton, who finished at 73-71—144.

Dave Scheff of Dana Point totaled 74-72—146 to tie for fifth with Jim Knoll of Sunnyvale, who also wound up at 74-72—146, Steven Hakes of San Diego, who finished at 72-74—146, and Rich Tolly of Laguna Hills, who also came in at 74-72—146.

Scott Parker of LaQuinta shot 73-74—147 to tie for ninth with Rich Simonin of Riverside, who totaled 77-70—147.
