Keefer of Las Posas CC Is Named the 2023 SCPGA Professional of the Year

Todd Keefer of Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo was honored as Southern California PGA Golf Professional of the Year at the SCPGA’s 99th Annual Meeting at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage.

The award was presented to Keefer for overall performance as a golf professional and for leadership, service and promotion of the game of golf, according to the SCPGA. Also considered is the overall performance at his facility, the level of service to the Southern California Section and the SCPGA, as well as his image as a golf pro.

“Our section will continue to support the participation of all children in the game of the golf through their formative years and into their adult lives,” Keefer said several years ago. “We believe we can grow the game and business by extolling the value of family participation and by marketing the value of the game and sport throughout California and the West.”

Keefer, a former President of the SCPGA, is Head Golf Professional and Chief Operating Officer at Las Posas CC, after formerly serving as General Manager at Wilshire Country in Los Angeles, and also working at PGA West in La Quinta, Mountain View Country Club in La Quinta, Trilogy Golf Club in La Quinta, Golf Creek Golf Club in Temecula and Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook.

Other 2023 SCPGA award winners include Josh Albert of Good Swing Happen in El Segundo, Teacher and Coach of the Year; David Anderson of KBS Golf Experience in Vista, Clubfitter of the Year; Justin Hight of Santa Barbara Golf Club, Assistant Golf Professional of the Year; Rick Rielly, of Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles, winner of the Bill Strausbaugh Award; Heather King of Miramar Memorial Golf Club in San Diego, the Player Development Award, and Randy Chang of The Journey at Pechanga in Temecula, the Youth Player Development Award.

Mitch Stout of Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club received the Private Merchandiser of the Year Award; while Clayton Moe of Stone Eagle Golf Club in Palm Desert claimed the Resort Merchandiser of the Year Award, and Joseph Williams of Indian Wells Golf Resort is the Public Merchandiser of the Year.

Aaron Castillo of Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside, Len Kennett of Long Beach and Susan Roll of Carlsbad Golf Center were declared PGA Honorary Life Members, while Ross Fisher of Goose Creek Golf Club in Mira Loma received the President’s Award, and Garrett Sapp of San Gabriel Country Club is Associate of the Year.

Michael Block of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo claimed the Men’s Player of the Year Award for a record 10th time; Natalie Vivaldi of Emerald Isle Golf Course in Oceanside is the Women’s Player of the Year; Rick Garboski of Golf Development Complex in Moorpark earned the Senior Player of the Year Award; Wendy Wisbom of Annadale Golf Club in Pasadena captured the Women’s Senior Player of the Year Award, and Jon Fiedler of  Los Posas Country Club in Camarillo is the Men’s Super Senior Player of the Year.

The Southern California Section was established in 1924 and now is comprised of nearly 1,700 golf professionals working at over 500 facilities within the Section.
