Joan Higgins and Judith Kyrinis will meet in Thursday’s U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur final at Hollywood Golf Club.
Higgins, of Glendora, Calif., defeated Kareen Markle 3-and-2 in the semifinals on Wednesday despite trailing most of the front nine, while Kyrinis edged 2011 champion Terri Frohnmayer 2-and-1.
Higgins won three straight holes (8-10) to move to two-up in the match and never lost a hole the rest of the day.
Higgins reached the semifinals by beating Canadian Helene Chartrand one-up in her morning quarterfinal match.
Kyrinis, of Canada, had a close match all day with Frohnmayer but took advantage of back-to-back bogeys from Frohnmayer on holes 13 and 14.
Kyrinis battled Mina Hardin of Mexico in the quarters, beating her 3-and-2.
