USC teammates Rico Hoey and Justin Suh posted 6-under-par 66s to share medalist honors in U.S. Open Local Qualifying at Indian Ridge Country Club in Palm Desert.
Hoey (pictured), from Rancho Cucamonga, and Suh, from San Jose, advanced to Sectional Qualifying, where they hope to qualify for the 116th United States Open Championship on June 16-19 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.
In other local qualifiers including players from California:
Justin Avery of Clovis shot 69 and Justin Shluker of Park City, Utah, finished at 70 to advance at San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno.
At Crystalaire Country Club in Llano, Tyler Collier of Chico was the medalist at 69, and Cody Hall of Wildomar and Bruce Doucett of Huntington Beach also moved on after recording 70s.
Noah Norton of Chico led the way at 67 and Carr Vernon of Poplar Bluff, Mo., also advanced with a 68 at Pasateimto Golf Club in Santa Cruz.
Sahith Theegala of Chino Hills and Pepperdine was the medalist with a 67 and Clayton Chatterley of Lompoc advanced with a 70 at La Purisima Golf Club in Lompoc.
Nahum Mendoza of Chula Vista carded a 70 and was the only player to advance from Andalusia Country Club in La Quinta, while Gordon Neale of Dove Canyon shared medalist honors with a 70 at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
Aaron Wise of Lake Elsinore, who plays at Oregon, led the way with a 67 on the Nicklaus Course at Pronghorn Resort in Bend, Ore., and Ryan Gronlund of Pleasanton also advanced with a 71.
Stewart Hagestad of Newport Beach shared medalist honors to move on at Old Westbury Golf and Country Club in Old Westbury, N.Y.
