Kay Hoey, a PGA apprentice at Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa, won the Southern California PGA Women’s Championship for the second straight year by six strokes over Lehua Wise of the Hideaway in La Quinta on the Jones Course at Rancho La Quinta Country Club.
Hoey (pictured with Executive Director Tom Addis III of the SCGPA) finished at 70-67–137, while Wise wound up at 70-73–143.
Reina Rodgers of River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard was third at 70-74–144, followed by Julie Wells-Shenfield of Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage at 74-71–145, and Leslie Spalding of San Diego State at 74-73–147.
Elizabeth Benson of San Diego Country Club shot 77-74–151 and tied for sixth with Heather Wilson of Coronado Golf Course, who totaled 78-73–151.
Alison Curdt of Angeles National Golf Club in Sunland-Tujunga finished eighth at 74-78–152, followed by Kari Sur of Palos Verdes Country Club at 75-78–153, while Meggan Bunker of Bakersfield Country Club totaled 80-74–154 to tie for 10th with Bari Brandwynne of Los Angeles Country Club, who came in at 75-79–154.
