Anderson made a par on the first playoff hole to turn back Hathcoat (pictured) and Cole Hammer of Texas, who both had bogeys on the extra hole.
Hathcoat, a junior from Fresno, posted a score of 71-71-68—210, 6-under-par, while Hammer shot 69-75-66—210, and Anderson wound up at 69-69-72—210.
Austin Hitt of North Carolina carded a score of 69-73-71—213 to tie for fourth with Chun An Yu of Arizona State, who finished at 70-70-73—213, Trevor Werbylo of Arizona, who totaled 73-73-67—213, and Pierceson Coody of Texas, who came in at 71-65-77—213.
Puwit Anupansuebsai of San Diego State shot 69-75-71—215 to tie for eighth with Mikey Slesinski of St. Mary, who totaled 73-72-70—215.
Ryan Gerard of North Carolina finished at 70-77-69—216 to tie for 10th with Alex del Rey of Arizona State (70-71-75—216), Sam Choi of New Mexico (72-73-71—216),
Parker Coody of Texas (70-72-74—216), Blake Wagoner of Arizona State (71-71-74—216) and Josh Seiple of Mississippi (71-74-71—216).
George Gardner led the University of San Diego in a tie for 16th at 72-74-71—217.
Arizona State claimed the team title with a score of 280-281-293—854, 10-under, followed by Texas at 283-288-284—855, St. Mary’s at 283-299-278—860, North Carolina at 285-290-286—861 and San Diego State at 288-295-289—872.
Arizona was sixth at 291-295-291—877, while New Mexico totaled 295-292-291—878 to tie for seventh with Mississippi, which finished at 297-288-293—878. Colorado was ninth at 293-303-289—885 followed by Washington at 300-299-287—886.
