Ernie Els, who has won four major championships with three equipment companies, has made another switch, this times to Adams Golf.
The Big Easy captured the 1994 U.S. Open at Oakmont while playing Lynx clubs, was with TaylorMade when he won the 1997 U.S. Open at Congressional and the 2002 Open Championship at Muirfield, and played Callaway equipment when he claimed the 2012 Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.
Terms of the deal were not announced.
“In recent years I’ve noticed a lot of Adams clubs out there on tour and not just in the bags of their ambassadors,” Els, who is No. 27 in the World Golf Rankings, said in a release.
“It made me very curious to try them out for myself and I have enjoyed testing their entire range of products. They have a fantastic quality product. I feel really comfortable putting the clubs in my bag this season and look forward to using them in competitive play later this month.”
The 44-year-old Els will make his debut with the new equipment at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters on the Middle East Swing of the European Tour at Doha Golf Club on Jan. 22-25.
