Dumdumaya Defeats Hoey by One Stroke in the Eighth McClure Cup

Jaden Dumdumaya of Benecia just keeps on winning.

The 17-year-old Dumdumaya, a senior at De La Salle High in Concord, came from five strokes behind in the final round to defeat Mitchell Hoey of Alamo and St. Mary’s College, by stroke back n the eighth McClure Cup on the Bayonet and Black Horse Course in Seaside.

With birdies on three of the last five holes, Dumdumaya posted a winning score of 72-71-68—211, while Hoey finished at 71-67-74—212.

Dumdumaya, who will attend USC next Fall and recently was named Junior Tour of Northern California Player of the Year, captured the 2023 CIF Individual Championship for De La Salle, and claimed five Northern California Junior Tour victories in addition to finishing second five additional times this season.

His 15 career victories are the most in NCJT history, breaking the record held by Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Suh.

Dumdumaya, who is a native of the Philippines, was the 2023 Philippine National Men’s Golf Player of the Year and he represented the country at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games,

Adithya Venkataraghavan of Saratoga totaled 74-71-71—216 to tie for fourth with Wilhelm Berg Von Linde of Sweden, who finished at 70-75-71—216, while Griffin Pace of Irvine shot 74-74-69—217 to tie for fifth with Garrett Boe of Clovis, who wound up at 71-74-72—217.

Defending champion Mike Perchak of Alamo was seventh at 72-76-70—218, followed by Alex Barclay of Pleasanton at 73-75-72—220, while Paolo Castaneda of Pleasanton totaled 75-72-74—221 to tie for ninth with Andrew Lee of Fresno, who came in at 70-77-74—221.
