Dr. Alison Curdt Becomes the First Female President of the Southern California PGA

The Southern California PGA (SCPGA) has entered a new era with the election of Dr. Alison Curdt, PGA, as its 42nd President. Curdt, the Director of Instruction at Wood Ranch Golf Club, not only brings expertise and experience to the role but also becomes the first female president in the Section’s storied 100-year history. Her appointment marks a significant milestone for both the SCPGA and the golf industry as a whole.

A PGA Master Professional, Dr. Curdt is among an elite group of golf professionals who have attained the PGA of America’s highest level of certification. With over two decades of dedication to the game, she is well-regarded for her leadership, instructional skills, and unwavering commitment to advancing the sport. Her election as president is not just a recognition of her personal achievements but also a reflection of the evolving landscape of golf—a sport increasingly committed to inclusivity and diversity.

Dr. Curdt will serve a two-year term as President of the SCPGA Section, during which she will work alongside a dynamic team of officers and board members. Joining her on the Executive Committee are Vice President John Kulow, PGA, of South Hills Country Club, and newly elected Secretary Tom Son, PGA of Arrowood Golf Course. Eric Lohman, PGA, of Monarch Beach Golf Links, who served as the 41st President, will continue to serve on the Board of Directors as Honorary President.

Upon her election, Dr. Curdt shared her vision and aspirations for the SCPGA’s future. “Being elected as the first female president of the SCPGA is an incredible honor and responsibility,” she said. “Together, we will continue to build on our rich legacy, champion inclusivity, and elevate the game of golf for Professionals and players of all backgrounds. As one of only a few women to achieve the PGA Master Professional designation, she has consistently broken barriers throughout her career.

In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Curdt is also a renowned advocate for mental health in sports. She holds a doctorate in clinical psychology, which she integrates into her teaching philosophy to help players achieve peak performance both physically and mentally.
