Crocker vs. DeChambeau in U.S. Am semis

Sean Crocker of Westlake Village and Bryson DeChambeau of Clovis will face off in the semifinals of the 115th United States Amateur Championship on Saturday at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill.

Crocker (pictured), a sophomore at USC, defeated Austin James of Canada, 2 up, while DeChambeau downed Paul Dunne of Ireland, 3 and 2, in the quarterfinals.

In the other quarterfinal matches, Derek Bard of New Hartford, N.Y., knocked off Jon Rahm of Spain and Arizona State, the No.1-ranked amateur in the world, 1 up, and Kenta Konishi of Japan eliminated Matthew Perrine of Austin, Texas, also by 1 up.

In the other semifinal, Konishi will play Perrine, with the 36-hole final scheduled for Sunday.

Crocker, who was born in Zimbabwe, was 2 down to James as late as the 10th tee, won four holes on the back nine with birdies and never led until winning two of the last three holes.

DeChambeau never trailed against Dunne, taking a 2-up lead with birdies on the sixth and seventh holes and stretching the lead to 3 up with another birdie at No. 13 before closing things out on the 16th hole.
