Luciano Conlan of Carlsbad and Kylie Chong of Torrance needed playoffs to take home titles in the Southern California PGA’s Toyota Tour Cup Series junior tournament at Olivas Links www.olivaslinks.com in Ventura.
It was one of the last tournaments played before golf courses in California were shut down and large group gatherings banned because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Conlan posted a score of 66-73—139, 5-under-par, to tie for first in the Boys Division with Leo Cheng of Porter Ranch, who shot 68-71—139 and Patrick Hong of Los Angeles, who finished at 67-72—139.
Then Conlan won with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole.
Timothy Jung of Corona was fourth at 74-67—141, while Ryan Abuan of Temecula totaled 72-70—142 to tie for fifth with Adam Duncan of Bakersfield, who wound up at 71-71—142.
Jin Nakao of Burbank carded a score of 72-72—144 to tie for seventh with Siin Kim of Murrrieta, who shot 71-74—144, while Ivan Barahona of Van Nuys totaled 73-72—145 to tie for ninth with Taewoo Yu of Murrieta, who finished at 70-75—145.
Chong wound up at 71-73—144 to tie for first with Jasmine Koo of Torrance, who finished at 74-70—144, before Chong prevailed with a birdie on the second extra hole.
Frances Kim of Rolling Hills Estates was third at 72-73—145, followed by Angela Heo of Murrieta at 74-73—147, while Yana Wilson of Henderson, Nev., shot 77-73—140 to tie for fifth with Yurang Li of Fullerton, who finished at 76-74—150.
Adeline Anderson of Ventura was seventh at 76-75—151, while Isabelle San Antonio of West Covina totaled 78-74—152 to tie for eighth with Caroline Wales of La Quinta, who wound up at 76-76—152, and Annika Ishiyama of Irvine, who came in at 75-77—152.
