Cal State Fullerton Wins BC Intercollegiate

Cal State Fullerton claimed its second victory in as many starts this season, winning the Boston College Intercollegiate by rallying to beat Seattle by five strokes at Blue Hill Country Club www.bluehillcc.com in Canton, Mass.

The Titans, who trailed by six strokes midway through the final round, finished with a score of 303-293-298—894, 30-over-par, while Seattle wound up at 299-297-303—899, followed by Albany at 298-299-307—904 and Boston College at 309-301-297—907.

“This team has been extremely fun to coach,” said Fullerton Coach Kathryn Hosch, whose Titans won the Hobble Creek Fall Classic in their first start of the season. “We have tons of talent, the culture is strong, and they are not afraid to work hard. I couldn’t be happier for them.”

Cal State Fullerton has won twice in the same season for the first time since 2011-12.

Fairleigh Dickinson totaled 304-305-304—913 to tie for fifth with Quinnipiac, which finished at 316-300-297—913, while Rollins was seventh at 293-309-313—915, followed by St. John’s at 304-315-305—924, Lehigh at 320-313-304—937 and Sacred Heart at 318-309-333—960.

Linda Wang of St. John’s captured the individual title with a score of 71-77-71—219, 3-over, followed by Bibilani Liu of Boston College at 75-73-72—220, while Krystal Hu of Seattle shot 76-72-74—222 to tie for third with Helga Einarsdottir of Albany, who finished at 74-72-76—222.

Brittany Shin of Cal State Fullerton posted a score of 84-69-70—223 to tie for fifth with Keisha Lugito of Seattle, who wound up at 73-75-75—223, while Nodoka Honda of Cal State Fullerton shot 73-75-76—224, Tomita Arejola of Fairleigh Dickinson, who finished at 72-78-74—224, and Laia Barro of St. John’s, who came in at 73-73-78—224.

Lisa Djerf of Cal State Fullerton carded a score of 75-78-73—226 to tie for 10th with Vendela From of Seattle, who wound up at 74-77-75—226.

Rounding out the scoring for Cal State Fullerton, Elsa Lundquist tied for 20th at 76-7480—230, and Texie Petchel tied for 33rd at 79-75-79—233.
