Bill Barry of Whispering Lakes Golf Course in Ontario made a birdie on his last hole to capture the Southern California Golf Association’s Senior Tournament of Club Champions by one stroke over three players at Red Hill Country Club http://www.redhillcc.com in Rancho Cucamonga.
Barry posted a score of 1-under-par 71, the only player in the field to break par, while Bill Borden of Cottonwood Golf Club in El Cajon shot 72 to tie for second with Les Farmer of California Country Club in Whittier and Mark Nickeas of Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.
Craig Calkins of Hacienda Country Club in La Habra Heights, the 2015 champion, totaled 73 to tie for fifth with Don Eklund of Saints Purple Gang in San Diego.
Jeff Thomas of Islands Golf Center in Anaheim finished at 74 to tie for seventh with Craig Thomas of San Diego Country Club, Greg Schweitzer of San Clemente Golf Club and Jeff Crosier of Mission Viejo Country Club.
Defending champion Craig Steinberg of North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, who also won the title in 2013, tied for 13th at 76.
