Holly Bare of Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno captured the Women’s Golf Association of Northern California Champion of Champions Tournament for the second straight year, winning by four strokes at Claremont Country Club in Oakland.
Bare, who played college golf at Oregon State and Fresno State, posted a score of 74-76—150, 8-over-par. The Clovis resident also won the WGANC Stroke Play Championship earlier this month at Copper River Country Club in Fresno.
Eva Monisteri of Half Moon Bay Women’s Golf Club shot 75-79—154 to tie for second with Karen Garcia of Auburn Valley Golf Club, who finished at 78-76—154, while Lynne Cowan of Sierra View Country Club in Roseville was fourth at 77-80—157.
Tiffany Zakzeski of Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose was fifth at 71-78—159, followed by Jane Findarle of Spring Creek Golf and Country Club in Ripon at 83-78—161, while Eden Anderson of Claremont Country Club totaled 79-83—162 to tie for seventh with Itsuko Moridaira of Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, who wound up at 84-78—162.
Julie Wirth of Moraga Golf Club shot 79-84—163 to tie for ninth with Tina Barker of Green Valley Country Club, who came in at 83-80—163.
Wirth made a hole-in-one on hole with a seven iron from 118 yards on the 17th hole in the first round.
Michiko of Sonoma Golf Club won Flight B with a score of 88-83—171, followed by Himali Ghale of Marin Country Club in Novato at 86-86—172 and Sachie Oshima of Stanford University Golf Club at 82-91—173.
Debbie Maderos of Butte Creek Country Club in Chico captured Flight C at 85-84—169, followed by Shelley Carney of Canyon Oaks Country Club in Chico at 84-92—176, and Lily Weng of Blackhawk Country Club in Danville at 89-88—177.
Debbie Wall of Woodbridge Golf and Country Club shot 87-91—178 to win Flight D, followed by Ellen Kim of Almaden Golf Club in San Jose at 90-96—186 and
Beverly Joyce of Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae at 94-94—188.
