Anthony Wins NCGA Mid-Amateur

Jason Anthony of Fairfield continued his not streak by winning the 38th Northern California Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship by three strokes over defending champion Matt Cohn of San Francisco and 2017 winner Bobby Bucey of Concord at Poppy Hills Golf Course http://www.poppyhillsgolf.com/Pebble_Beach in Pebble Beach.

The 36-year-old Anthony, a member at the Olympic Club in San Francisco who was the 2017 NCGA Player of the Year, has finished first or second in the six tournaments he has played this season.

“I really didn’t have my ‘A’ game so it shows me that I’m progressing,” said Anthony, who won by three shots after shooting his second straight 67 for a two-day total of 8-under 134. “It excites me for the future.

“Life’s good all the time. Right now though, it’s really good.”

Anthony posted a score of 67-67—134, 8-under-par, while Cohn finished at 70-67—137 and Busey wound up at 70-67—137, while Nick Moore of Seaside was fourth at 70-68—138, and Travis Peterson of Santa Rosa shot 73-68—141 to tie for fifth with Garret Wagner of Brentwood, who wound up at 67-74—141.

Todd Doss of Millbrae totaled 72-70—142 to tie for seventh with Daniel Griffiths of Redwood City, who finished at 70-72—142, four-time winner Randy Haag of Orinda, who wound up at 72-70—142, Brett Vivoch of Moraga, who shot 73-69—142, and Steve Woods of Cupertino, who came in at 70-72—142.
