Anthony Wins 92nd Alameda Commuters by 4

Jason Anthony came up short in his bid to defend his title in the San Francisco City Amateur last month, but made up for it in the 92nd Alameda Commuters.

The 35-year-old from Fairfield pulled away in the final round to beat Aaron Chen of Fremont by four strokes on the renovated South Course at Corica Park Golf Complex in Alameda.

Anthony, who lost to Evan Peterson of Clovis in the match-play final of the San Francisco City, finished with a score of 71-71-66-72—280, 8-under-par, while Chen wound up at 73-70-67-74—284.

Brendon Hy of San Ramon was third at 74-72-72-68—286, followed by Jalen Griffin of Ambler, Pa., at 73-73-70-72—288.

Jonathan Tanihana of Sacramento shot 74-73-72-70—289 to tie for fifth with Bobby Bucey of Concord, who totaled 74-71-69-75—289, and Domingo Jojola of San Francisco, who finished at 75-70-70-74—289, while Nick Moore of Seaside was eighth at 73-73-70-74—290.

Kevin Noto of Gilroy posted a score of 74-75-71-72—292 to tie for ninth with Sebastian Iqbal of San Jose, who wound up at 72-74-71-75—292, Kyle Kuest of Fresno, who finished at 75-72-69-76—292, and Daniel Robertson of Daly City, who came in at 69-73-70-80—292.

James Camaione of Upland claimed the 32nd Alameda Commuters title by one stroke over one stroke over Tony Padilla of Sacramento.

Camaione carded a score of 71-74—145, 1-over, while Padilla finished at 73-73—146, and Randy Haag of Orinda shot 73-77—150 to tie for third with Jim Knoll of Sunnyvale, who finished at 71-79—150, and John Mack of Alta Loma, who wound up at 73-77—150.

Joey Ferrari of Stockton totaled 76-75—151 to tie for fifth with Ken Noonan of Pacific Grove, who shot 75-76—151, Chris Miller of Santa Monica, who finished at 73-78—151, and Todd Barsotti of Fresno, who also came in at 73-78—151.

James Williams of Orinda wound up at 76-76—152 to tie for ninth with Jeff Britton of Carmel, who totaled 73-79—152.

Gary Vanier of Pleasant Hill won the Alameda Commuters Super Senior crown by four strokes, posting a score of 75-70—145, 2-under, followed by Mike Parno of Sonoma Rafael at 77-72—149, and Frank Pieper of Carmel at 78-75—153.

Rich Cleghorn of Oceanside shot 78-76—154 to tie for fourth with Mark Miller of Brentwood at 73-81—154, and Jack Anthony of Napa at 78-76—154.

Ron Johnson of Walnut Creek totaled 80-75—155 to tie for seventh with David Bosley of Fairfield, who finished at 78-77—155, while Terry Ackerman of Carmel was ninth at 81-75—156, followed by Jim Myers of Oceanside at 80-79—159.
