Burda-Knoll win SCGA Senior 4-Ball title

Jeff Burda and Jim Knoll captured the Southern California Golf Association’s Senior Four-ball Championship for the second time by one stroke at Mission Viejo Country Club.

The 2015 champions posted a score of 74-66—140, 4-under-par, while Don DuBois of Newport Beach and John Pate of Santa Barbara totaled 69-72—141 to tie for second with Iain MacDonald of Fullerton and Robert Valerio of Hawthorne, who finished at 73-68—141.

Burda (pictured left), from La Quinta, is a two-time SCGA Senior Amateur champion, while Knoll, of Sunnyvale, won the 2013 California Senior Amateur Championship, an event Burda has won three times.

Mike Davis of Laguna Nigel and Dave Sheff of Dana Point were fourth at 69-73—142, followed by Scott Anderson of Danville and Gary Vanier of Pleasant Hill at 73-70—143.

Defending champions Mark Gardner of Redlands and Michael Rowley of San Luis Obispo carded a score of 72-72—144 to tie for sixth with Jim Plotkin of Carlsbad and Dennis Reiland of Irvine, who finished at 69- 75—144, James Camaione of Upland and Steve Donnelly of Salinas, who wound up at 73-71—144, and Mark Dupont of Santa Ana and Boyd Martin of Corona del Mar, who came in at 73-71—144.

Gary Hardin and Tim McKee, both of Carlsbad, shot 72-73—145 to tie for 10th with Greg Grohs of Arcadia and Chris Hermann of La Canada, who finished at 73-72—145.
