Ree leads USC to Gold Rush title

Robynn Ree, Amy Lee and Tiffany Chan finished 1-2-3 and led top-ranked USC to an 18-stroke victory over Fresno State in the Gold Rush at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.

The Trojans, coached by Andrea Gaston, posted a score of 286-285-292–863, 1-under-par, to claim their third victory of the season.

Fresno State was second at 292-295-294–881, followed by Long Beach State at 308-286-

296–890, while Colorado State totaled 294-302-296–892 to tie for fourth with Brigham Young, which came in at 300-296-297–893.

Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) finished eighth at 303-305-306–914,  Sacramento State was 10th at 305-302-313–920, Cal State Fullerton wound up 11th at 312-311-308–931 and UC Irvine was 15th at 316-311-323–950.

Ree (pictured), a freshman from Redondo Beach, claimed the first victory of her college career with a score of 70-71-71–212, 4-under, followed by Lee, a sophomore from Brea, at 74-70-69–213, and Chan, a junior from Hong Kong, at 75-68-71–214.

Bianca Pagdanganan of Gonzaga was fourth at 71-75-70–216, while Hannah Sodersten of Fresno State shot 76-71-70–217 to tie for fifth with Alex White of Brigham Young, who totaled 70-76-71–217.

Martina Edberg of Cal State Fullerton posted a score of 71-75-73–219 to tie for seventh with Gudrun Bjorgvinsdottir of Fresno State, who also wound up at 71-75-73–219, while Karen Chung of USC finished at 70-75-75–220 to tie for ninth with Katrina Pendergast of Colorado State, who came in at 75-72-73–220.

Haley Tygret led Long Beach State in a tie for 12th at 82-68-72-222, while Jamie Binns of Cal Poly (SLO) tied for 23rd at 76-75-75–226, Astha Madan of Sacramento State tied for 26th at 76-72-79–227, and Samantha Chan of UC Irvine was 53rd at 83-76-75–234.
