Li wins AJGA Tournament of Champions by 5

Lucy Li of Redwood Shores captured her third American Junior Golf Association title of the year, winning the Girls’ Division of the 40th edition of the Rolex Tournament of Champions by five strokes at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

The 15-yer-old Li, a high school sophomore, won the ANA Junior Inspiration and PING Invitational, earlier this season.

Li, who also claimed the 2016 Junior PGA Championship and has been making news since she qualified for match play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship four months before her 11th birthday, posted a score of 71-62-73-69—275, 13-under-par.

Aneka Seumanutafa of Emmitsburg, Md., who has committed to Ohio State, was second at 73-71-67-69—280, followed by Michaela Morad of Huntsville, Ala., at 70-73-75-65—283, Brianna Navarrosa of San Diego at 71-70-74-73—288 and Rachel Heck of Memphis, Tenn., at 79-70-70-70—299.

Briana Chacon of Whittier shot 76-71-71-72—290 to tie for sixth with Jennifer Chang of Cary, N.C., who finished at 71-73-79-67—290, and Ya Chun Chang of Taiwan, who wound up at 70-74-78-68—290, while Alexa Melton of Covina was ninth at 74-72-76-69—291, and Alex Pano of Lake Worth, Fla., totaled 73-74-72-73—292 to tie for 10th with Gina Kim of Chapel Hill, N.C., who came in at 74-76-71-71—292.

Garret Barber of Stuart, Fla., who has signed with LSU, claimed the Boys’ Division title with a score of 66-70-67-75—278, 8-under, followed by Canon Claycomb of Bowling Green, Ky., at 75-69-64-71—279, Ricky Castillo of Yorba Linda at 72-65-66-77—280 and William Mouw of Chino at 70-69-65-77—281.

Ryan Smith of Carlsbad shot 71-71-66-74—282 to tie for fifth with Michael Thorbjornsen of Wellesley, Mass., who totaled 69-73-64-76—282, and Alexander Vogelsong of Palm City, Fla., who finished at 69-75-63-75—282.

Sean Marayuma of Japan carded a score of 76-70-65-72—283 to tie for eighth with Drew Doyle of Louisville, Ky., who totaled 76-65-68-74—283, while Ryan Burnett of Lafayette shot 77-69-70-70—286 and tied for 10th with Joseph Pagdin of England, who finished at 73-70-71-72—286, and Wochen Ye of China, who wound up at 77-66-69-74—286.
