Top-ranked Suh of USC wins in Hawaii

Justin Suh of USC, the top-ranked college golfer in the nation, started the Spring Season the same way he finished up in the Fall.

Suh, a junior from San Jose, birdied the last two holes to beat Viktor Hovland and Matthew Wolff, both of team champion Oklahoma State, by one stroke to win the Amer Ari Invitational on the Kings Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort in Waikoloa Village on the Big Island of Hawaii.

“Justin had another great week,” USC Coach Chris Zambri said of Suh, who captured the St. Mary’s Invitational at Pebble Beach in his last start in November. “He continues to show that he is a world class player. He birdies four of the last six holes. Big-time stuff.

“ … Overall, we got beat pretty badly by a great team in Oklahoma State. Our goal now is to get better and try to close the gap between them and us.”

Suh, who won for the third time this season, also had an eagle on the fourth hole while posting a score of 69-66-68—203, 13-under-par, to post his 11th straight finish in the top 20 dating to last season. He has posted seven straight rounds in the 60s.
