Jonah Texeira of Porter Ranch advanced to the semifinals of the 116th U.S. Amateur with a 3-and-2 victory over Luis Gagne of Orlando, Fla., on the South Course at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
The 20-year-old Texiera, a junior at USC, birdied five of his first seven holes and never looked back against Gagne.
In other matches, Curtis Luck of Australia defeated Sahith Theegala of Chino Hills and Pepperdine, 2 up, Brad Dalke of Norman, Okla., downed David Boote of England and Stanford, 3 and 2, and Nick Carlson of Hamilton, Mich., ousted Dylan Meyer of Evansville, Ind., 3 and 1.
In the semifinals on Saturday, Texeira will play Dalke and Carlson takes on Luck. The 36-hole final will be played on Sunday.
