Nicole Schroeder of Rocklin captured the 84th annual Sacramento City Women’s Golf Championship by two strokes over Simar Singh of Los Altos at Bing Maloney Golf Course http://www.bingmaloney.com in Sacramento.
Schroeder, a senior at Oregon State who won the 2016 CWAC California Junior Girls’ State Championship while at Rocklin High, took control by making three birdies in a span of five holes through No. 11 and later finished with five consecutive pars to post a score of 71-58—139, while Singh finished at 71-70—141.
Last year, Schroeder won the NCAA Madison Regional by a whopping 12 strokes.
Ellie Bushnell of Granite Bay was third at 72-71—143, followed by Sienna Lyford of Roseville at 71-73—144 and Lynn Cowan of Rocklin at 74-71—145.
Jennifer Krause of Eugene, Ore., shot 73-73—146 to tie for sixth with Vanessa Richani of Granite Bay, while Kelly Wilson of El Dorado Hills was eighth at 73-74—147, followed by Kathy Rutherford of Reno, Nev., at 72-76—148 and Jasmine Monas of Cameron Park at 79-70—149.
