Sacramento State wins Aggie Invitational

Sacramento State led virtually all the way in winning the New Mexico State Women’s Aggie Invitational by 20 strokes over Texas El Paso at New Mexico State Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.

The Hornets, who were second in the Cougar Cup to open the Fall season after winning three times during the 2016-17 campaign, posted a winning score of 287-298-288—873, 3-under-par, while UTEP finished at 294-301-298—893, followed by Cal State Fullerton at 307-294-294—895, UC Riverside at 304-292-304—900 and Santa Clara at 301-302-298—901.

New Mexico State was sixth at 306-292-304—902, followed by North Dakota at 305-302-302—909, Weber State at 313-316-301—930, Texas-Rio Grande Valley at 301-321-309—931 and Southern Utah at 323-320-309—952.

Kiselya Plewe of Weber State claimed the individual title with a score of 71-71-71—213, 3-under, followed by Dominique Galloway of New Mexico State at 76-71-69—216, and

Sofie Babic of Sacramento State at 73-72-72—217, while Kristin Le of Santa Clara shot 74-72-72–218 to tie for fourth with Lily Downs of UTEP, who wound up at 71-71-76—218.

Astha Madan of Sacramento State totaled 70-78-71—219 to tie for sixth with Jenna Janu of North Dakota, who finished at 72-73-74—219, while Elsa Lundquist of Cal State Fullerton shot 76-74-70—220 to tie for eighth with Corrine Viden of Sacramento State, who came in at 71-73-76—220, and June Ting of UTEP was 10th at 75-73-73—221.
