Shane Muldowney of Carlsbad sank a clutch par putt on the last hole to capture the AmateurGolf.com San Diego Amateur by one stroke over Jake Elliott of Lake Forest at Aviara Golf Club www.aviaragolfaviara.com in Carlsbad.
Muldowney (pictured left) was 6-over-par through 11 holes in the final round but made an adjustment on the greens in the middle of the round and played the rest of the way in 6-under to finish at 74-70—144, even par.
“I found something with my putting and everything just clicked,” said Muldowney, a sophomore at UC Davis.
Elliott, who led after the first round, made a bogey on the final hole and finished second at 72-73—145, followed by Daniel Nunez of Los Angeles at 75-77—152, and Jerry Ledzinski II of Carmel at 78-77—155.
Krando Nishiba of San Diego shot 81-75—156 to tie for fifth with Erick Liscio of Temecula, who totaled 80-76—156, Andre Nacional of Oceanside, who finished at 79-77—156, and Taylor Casper of San Juan Capistrano, who wound up at 77-79—156.
Ken Cruz of Fullerton was ninth at 77-80—157, while Chris Hunter of Billings, Mont., shot 85-73—158 to tie for 10th with Sean Saw of Cerritos, who finished at 82-76—158, Ben Soicher of Mill Valley, who wound up at 78-80—158, and Igor Haenel of Austria, who came in at 77-81—158.

Jim Ream of Cerritos claimed the Senior Division title at 73-76—149, followed by Jeff Britton of Carmel at 76-74—150 and Todd Palmaer of Corona del Mar at 75-77—152.
Marie Dean of Davis and Cal State Los Angeles finished at 81-75—156 to capture the Women’s Division title in a scorecard playoff over Jaime Jacob of Encinitas and Cal San Marcos, who came in at 78-78—156, while Trina Grindheim of Temecula was third at 86-82—168.
