Ryan Grauman of Alamo made it two-for-two this year at Corica Park http://www.coricapark.com in Alameda.
Grauman, a freshman at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, claimed the Alameda Commuters this summer on the North Course at Corica Park, and this time he won the Amateur Golf.com Winter Invitational in the rain on the South Course by five strokes.
Grauman posted a score of 70-65—135, 7-under-par, while Joshua McCarthy of Danville and Pepperdine was second at 69-71—140, followed by Lucas Carper of San Jose at 72-72—144.
“At the beginning of the day, I was supposed to be chasing (McCarthy),” Grauman said. “I started off on the first hole making a birdie and tying him. Then for the rest of the front nine and a few holes on the back nine, it was just neck and neck. I’d try to get ahead, then he would tie me, then go ahead by a stroke, then I would tie it back.
“It was tough coming in. My first swing in the rain was on the par-3 16th, and I chunked it left and short, but you just have to adjust as you go, and I was able to make birdies on 17 and 18.”
Ashkaan Hakim of San Ramon shot 74-71—145 to tie for fourth with Dylan Vanver Veer of El Dorado Hills, who finished at 71-74—145, while Gabriel Manotoc of San Francisco shot 71-75—146 to tie for sixth with Scott McNealy of Portola Valley at 70-76—146, and Angelo Marcon of San Francisco at 73-73—146.
Joshua Diaz of Discovery Bay totaled 76-71—147 to tie for ninth with Tyson Dinsmore of Los Altos Hills, who finished at 71-76—147, Josh McCollum of Upland, who wound up at 75-72—147, and Ryan Torres of San Jose, who also finished at 75-72—147.
Frank Pieper of Carmel took the Senior Division title at 75-72—147, while Glenn Andrade of Napa shot 73-75—148 to tie for second with Mark Miller of Brentwood, who finished at 74-74—148.
Tammy Lim of Clovis claimed the Women’s Division crown with a score of 77-76—153, followed by Kelsi Valenzuela of Turlock at 82-78—160 and Hafsa Khan of Livermore at 83-80—163.
