El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana was chosen to host the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship by the United Stats Golf Association.
El Cab will host its first USGA championship from April 28-May 2, 2018.
“On behalf of the membership of El Caballero County Club, we are honored to host the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship,” said Gary Diamond, club president.
“We look forward to providing a venue that the competitors will find challenging and where spectators will have a memorable experience.”
El Caballero was designed in 1957 by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and named for the creek that runs property of the club in the San Fernando Valley. The course was renovated in 2005 by John Harbottle, who reworked bunkers, water features and a few greens.
Located about 25 from downtown Los Angeles, El Caballero hosted of the LPGA Tour’s Office Depot Championship from 2002-2004, with Se Ri Pak of South Korea winning the inaugural event and Annika Sorenstam of Sweden claiming the title the next two years.
The club also has hosted several USGA sectional qualifiers, including for the U.S. Open, the U.S. Amateur and most recently the 2014 U.S. Senior Open.

“We are confident this beautiful Southern California club will be a terrific host for players and supporters, while also providing a comprehensive test that will produce worthy champions and continue to build the legacy of this popular team event.”
The U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship was contested for the first time last year, with 17-year-old Mika Liu of Beverly Hills, who has committed to Stanford, and Rinko Mitsunaga, 20, of Roswell, Ga., and the University of Georgia, winning at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.
The 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship will be the 80th USGA championship contested in California, the most of any state.
