DJ, Tway, Kim, An share lead in Canada

Top-ranked Dustin Johnson is doing his best to bounce back from a missed cut last week in the Open Championship at Carnoustie.

DJ sank a 23-foot birdie putt on the 16th hole en route to a 7-under-par 65 and is tied for the lead with Kevin Tway and South Koreans Whee Kim and Byeong Hun An heading to the final round of the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

“I felt like I was playing well going into the Open Championship and felt like I played well at the Open, I just scored really bad,” said Johnson, who has won twice this season and 18 times in his career. “I felt like my mental game wasn’t there. So I came here and practiced a little bit and got my focus back right and have played a little better this week.

“I was playing well. I didn’t drive it quite as well as I’d like to today. It was a little bit windy today, so it made it a little bit tougher to hit fairways. But I felt that when I was in the fairway I hit good shots and made a lot of birdies.”

Johnson collected seven birdies, including five on the first six holes, while posting a 54-hole score of 17-under 199.

An had three birdies on each nine in a bogey-free 66, while Kim holed a 31-foot birdie putt on No. 16 in a 67, and second-round leader Tway birdied three of the last four holes while posting a 68.

Hudson Swafford had seven birdies on the back nine in a 67 and is four strokes back in a tie for fifth with Rory Sabbatini, who sank eagle putts of 18 feet on the 16th hole and two feet on the last to finish at 68.

Robert Garrigus, who held the first-round lead at 63, made a six-foot birdie putt on the last hole to shoot 69 and is five down in a tie seventh with Abraham Ancer (65) of Mexico, Joel Dahmen (67), Chris Stroud (67), Danny Lee (67) of Australia, and Johnson Wagner (71).

Two-time defending champion Jhonattan Vegas of Venezuela is tied for 29th after a 68.
