Jason Anthony of Fairfield and Nick Moore of Seaside captured the second Billy Bell Cup by two strokes over Danny Paniccia of Fresno and Mike Stieler of Coarsegold at Del Rio Golf and Country Club in Modesto.
Anthony (pictured), the reigning San Francisco City champion, and Moore, the 2017 Northern California Golf Association Public Links champion, carded a score of 66-66—132, 12-under-par, to claim the Mid-Amateur Flight, while Paniccia and Stieler finished at 65-69—134.
Matt Cohn of San Francisco and Ryan Sloane of Campbell were third at 69-66—135, followed by Jeff Hughes of Fresno and Chris Malone of Ripon at 69-70—139.
Joey Ferrari of Stockton and Randy Haag of Orinda won the Senior Flight at 68-67—135, while Jeff Burda of Modesto and Bryan Smith of Sacramento totaled 69-68—137 to tie for second with Mark Morgan of Shingle Springs, the 2017 California Senior Amateur champion, and Tony Padilla of Sacramento, who also finished at 69-68—137, and first-round leaders Ken Noonan pf Pacific Grove and Terry Foreman of Brentwood, who wound up at 65-72—137.
Kemp Richardson of Laguna Nigel and Rob Adolph of Fresno shot 67-72—139 to capture the Super Senior Flight over Chuck Richesin of Woodbridge and Bob Thomason of Stockton, who came in at 69-75—144.
The tournament is named for William Bell, one of the West’s most prolific golf course architects, who designed Del Rio Golf and Country Club’s original 18 holes, the Oak and Bluff nines in 1947.
