Suh, Vu lead 10 Californians in Palmer Cup

Justin Suh of USC and Lilia Vu of UCLA, the top-ranked players in college golf, are among 10 California golfers selected to play in the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup on July 6-8 at Evian Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France.

Suh (pictured), who has four victories this season, joined Collin Morikawa of Cal, Shintaro Ban of UNLV and San Jose, Matthew Wolff of top-ranked Oklahoma State, Davis Riley of Alabama and Brad Dalke of Oklahoma as automatic picks for the United States men’s team based on their play.

They are joined by committee selections Sahith Theegala of Pepperdine, Braden Thornberry of Mississippi, Chandler Phillips of Texas A&M, Zach Bauchou of Oklahoma State and S.M. Lee of Dalton State.

One more pick will be made by Coach Ryan Hybl of Oklahoma, who leads the U.S. team on May 4.

Vu, who has won her last four tournaments and has eight victories in her UCLA career, was an automatic selection for the U.S. women’s team along with Andrea Lee of Stanford, Lauren Stephenson of Alabama, Sophia Schubert of Texas, Kristen Gillman of Alabama and Emilia Migliaccio of Wake Forest.

Mariel Galdiano of UCLA is among the committee selections along with Dylan Kim of Arkansas, Jennifer Kupcho of Wake Forest, Jamie Freedman, Nova Southeastern and Alana Uriell of Arkansas.

The final selection for the U.S. women’s team will be made by Coach Therese Hession of Ohio State.

Automatic picks for the International men’s team are Fredrik Nilhen of Texas Tech and Sweden, Victor Hovland of Oklahoma State and Norway, Alvaro Ortiz of Arkansas and Mexico, Stefano Nazzoli of TCU and Italy, Jovan Rebula of Auburn and South Africa and Lorenzo Scalise of Tennessee and Italy.

The committee selections include K.K. Limbhasut of Cal and Thailand, Harry Hall of UNLV and England, Hurly Long of Texas Tech and Germany and Andy Zhang of Florida and China.

Coach Herb Page of Kent State will make another pick for the International men’s team and the R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament Champion winner also will make the squad.

Patty Tavatanakit of UCLA and Thailand is an automatic pick for the International women’s team along with Olivia Mehaffey of Arizona State and Northern Ireland, Dewi Weber of Miami and Netherlands, Ainhoa Olarra of South Carolina and Spain, and Jaravee Boonchant of Duke and Thailand.

Albane Valenzuela of Stanford and Switzerland is among the International committee picks, along with Jiwon Jeon of Daytona State and South Korea, Pimnipa Panthong of Kent State and Thailand, and Maddie Szeryk of Texas A&M and Canada.

Coach Anne Walker of Stanford will lead the International women’s team and make an addition selection, while the R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament Champion winner also will make the team.
