Head south of San Diego to Chula Vista and the John Cook-designed Salt Creek Golf Club will treat you to 18 holes of pure bliss. Nestled in the rolling foothills of the San Miguel Mountains; adjacent to a National Wildlife Refuge, Salt Creek is a links-style course of sorts, with big fairways and greens. It measures just over 6800 yards from the back tees, bunkers guard several parts of the course periphery—adding to the challenge but also protecting from lost balls, too.
