Molder-Strickland share Straight Down title

Defending champions Bryce Molder and Jim Strickland tied for the title with Jason Ballard and Mike Rowley in the 21st annual Straight Down Fall Classic at San Luis Obispo Country Club in San Luis Obispo.

Molder, who captured the 2011 Frys.com Classic on the PGA Tour, and Strickland, from Whisper Rock Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., posted a score of 66-66—132, 10-under-par.

Last year, Molder and Strickland (pictured) beat five-time PGA Tour winner Nick Watney and Jordan Scott by one stroke.

Ballard, of Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., and Rowley, playing on his home course in San Luis Obispo, finished at 65-67—132 by recording an eagle and three birdies on the back nine.

Ricky Barnes, the 2002 U.S. Amateur champion from Stockton, and Andrew Medley of Crestwicke Country Club in Bloomington, Ill., totaled 66-67—133 to tie for third with Tim Flemming and Alan Bratton of Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, who finished at 65-68—138.

Watney, from Davis and Fresno State, and Scott, of La Cumbre Country Club in Santa Barbara, shot 66-68—134 to tie for fifth with PGA Tour rookie Brandon Harkins and Verna Tony of the Olympic Club in San Francisco, who wound up at 65-69—134.

Ed Loar of the PGA Tour and Jeff Seibert of Dallas Athletic Club wound up at 67-69—136 to tie for seventh with David von Hoffman and Riley Pumphrey of Spanish Oaks Golf Club in Austin, Texas, who finished at 66-70—136, and Conrad Shindler of the PGA Tour and Warren Vickers of Whisper Rock Golf Club, who came in at 65-71—136, while Scott Heyn and Corby Segal of Oakmont Country Club in Glendale were 10th at 67-70—137.

The format of the Straight Down Fall Classic is a PGA Tour or PGA club pro paired with an amateur, playing 36-holes under the four-ball format.
