Wang wins Long Beach Women’s title by 4

Vanessa Wang of Rowland Heights captured the Long Beach Women’s City Championship by four strokes over Cara Barker of Coronado at Skylinks Golf Course in Long Beach.

Wang, a recent graduate of La Serna High in Whittier who has committed to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, posted a score of 70-73-69—212, 4-under-par. She helped La Serna win four San Gabriel Valley League championships and CIF-Southern Section Southern Division titles in 2015 and 2016.

Barker finished second at 71-78-67—216, while Paris Griffith of Escondido shot 74-73-70—217 to tie for third with Gabriela Ruffels of Melbourne, Australia, who wound up at 71-73-73—217.

Beth Lillie of Fullerton was fifth at 71-75-72—218, followed by Cameron Lee of Tustin at 69-75-75—219, while Elle Otten of Palm Desert totaled 77-76-70— 223 to tie for seventh with Hunter Pate of Las Vegas, who came in at 74-73- 76—223.

Kayla Yn of Arcadia was ninth at 75-78-72—225, while Erica Wang of Corona shot 78-74-74—226 to tie for 10th with Alisaundre Morallos of Lakewood, who finished at 76-77-73—226, Holland Shourds of Riverside, who totaled 76-76- 74—226, and Jewel Jorgensen of Coto de Caza, who wound up at 77-75-74— 226.

Lexi Nielsen of Manhattan Beach captured the Gross/Net Division with a score of 84-76—160, followed by Cierra Gaytan of Corona Del Mar at 84-83— 167 and Emily Whitehead of Grover Beach at 93-88—181.

The Long Beach Women’s City Championship is part of the summer-long Long Beach Golf Festival.
